The Georgia Black Constructors Association
Advocating, Building and Educating in Every Turn
The Mission of the Georgia Black Constructors Association (GBCA) is to provide aggressive advocacy for the utilization of Black-owned construction firms during any form of construction requiring qualifying constructors in the Southeast Region.
It is a fact, that African-Americans are overlooked for employment in the higher-paying jobs in construction and pushed into the lower-paying trades. African-American males in construction earn 67 cents for every dollar that the average construction worker makes and white male construction workers make .20 cents more than the average construction worker.* Unemployment for African Americans is projected to reach a 25-year high by 2008, with the national rate soaring to 17.2 percent and the rates in five states..
