About the GBCA

 

The Georgia Black Constructors Association (GBCA) was established to address longstanding disparities in the construction industry and to create greater access to economic opportunities for Black-owned construction businesses and professionals.

​

For decades, Black contractors, subcontractors, skilled tradespeople, and construction professionals have faced barriers to equitable participation in the industry—including limited access to capital and bonding, contracting opportunities, workforce advancement, business development resources, and relationships with major public and private-sector construction programs.

​

GBCA is committed to changing that landscape.

Today, GBCA serves as a statewide resource and advocate for Black-owned construction firms and construction professionals. Our mission is to identify opportunities, build partnerships, strengthen business capacity, and increase participation in the billions of dollars invested in construction and infrastructure throughout Georgia and the Southeast.

Through our programs, membership services, industry relationships, educational initiatives, and procurement assistance, GBCA works to connect members with:

• Public and private construction opportunities

• General contractors and prime contracting partners

• Government agencies and procurement programs

• Corporate and institutional construction projects

• Business development and capacity-building resources

• Industry networking and strategic partnerships

• Contracting, bidding, and procurement information

• Workforce and professional development opportunities

 

GBCA believes that economic inclusion must extend beyond being given an opportunity to bid—it must include the resources, relationships, knowledge, and access necessary to compete successfully and perform the work.

We therefore work to help our members become contract-ready, opportunity-ready, and positioned for sustainable growth.

GBCA's work extends beyond individual businesses. Strong Black-owned construction companies create jobs, strengthen families, support local economies, and help communities participate in the economic development occurring in their own neighborhoods.

Our vision is a construction industry in which qualified businesses have a fair opportunity to compete, grow, create jobs, and participate meaningfully in Georgia's economic future.

The Georgia Black Constructors Association is committed to making sure Black contractors are not simply present in the construction industry—but are positioned to compete, build, lead, and prosper.
